I did mean the 'after 50's' drop off in participation in our hobby.
Or simular other hobbies as you say.

Mind you theres the few who's moto is, 'He who dies with the most and expensive toys, Wins'

Most oldies I know of, have dropped out, mainly due to poor health[which causes associated problems like--Car License/social interaction problems/Unco-ordinated flying/repairs/etc]

But with most people living longer and healther life styes, it surprise me that theres such a drop off so much after 50 still.

As you say-maybe they are just opting for a change of life style.
The 'been there, done that' does set in after 20 years or so of the same thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I flew that hell out all sorts of Ultralights and Gliders for 20 odd years, then one day just thought I could be doing something better.

Went back to RC flying which I had started young, but didn't do much of.
I now just want to perfect Piroflips before I die[got a long way to go though!!!!!!]
It will take me till a 100 I think!!!!!!!!!!! [halfway there now--100 that is]

According to these sentences, am I too old or too young to fly helis?

Pretty hard to compete with heli's when you are +60 yo. Many of us, including me, have gone into FPV drone racing because our heli reflexes give us some advantages over many (but not all!) younger guys. I may not be the fastest but I may do a Bradbury and at least finish the race, lol!

      Cheers,

66 and started flying just over 3 years ago. Great hobby but you do require fairly deep pockets!
